Some people hate the View, and some people love it. I’m not sure who loves it other than conservative middle-aged women, or people watching it for a few laughs during the boring tedium of a day off or sick day, but whatever.
At least they tried to be relevant and gave Belle Knox an opportunity to voice her opinion and defend herself on live television, even if it was probably just media manipulation to capitalize on a hot topic and get some ratings from stuffy old people furrowing their brows at the screen and voicing disapproval about the youth today. Here’s her brief interview on the View, where everyone except Whoopi seems completely clueless about what’s going on, which is pretty unsuprising:
I have to give my full support to Belle Knox. Most people, when faced with so much vitriol (even death threats!) would just fade into obscurity and wait for things to blow over, but Belle is using her recent mainstream fame to defend sex workers and women’s rights everywhere. I have a lot of respect for her, especially since she’s only 18 years old!
The questions that the View panel ask Belle are pretty pathetic, but I feel like she does a really good job of getting her message across. It’s also pretty funny how incredulous the panel is when Belle mentions that she’s aiming to become a civil rights lawyer after she finishes her degree.
Hopefully she can use her momentum to put herself even further in the mainstream spotlight and get her message across to as many people as possible and hopefully open some eyes about the uphill battle that most sex workers, and women in general, have to face in their day-to-day life. And on a more personal level, I hope that the backlash against Belle Knox in her day-to-day life fades as people begin to realize what an intelligent and well-spoke woman she is.
What do you think about the interview, and what it means for the visibility of sex workers and the bullshit they face daily?
