The holidays are always really tough on our wallet and waist line. With the weather getting colder I feel like spending all my nights on my couch, ordering greasy Chinese food and watching movies. The only times I’ll brave the cold is to celebrate birthdays and holidays with friends and family. The alcohol is flowing all night with tons of pies, mashed potatoes, fingers foods and fried deliciousness.
It’s normal and expected to pack on a few extra pounds during the winter, especially during the holiday season. So the main question is “how do you stay fit?” It’s all about routine! Keep going to the gym at least twice a week and make sure to go straight after work (if you go home we both know you’re not putting on those boots again). Yes, you’ll get gross and sweaty and have to go outside in the cold but it’s really not that bad. The sweat dries quickly so just put a sweater on top and you’re ready to go.
After your workout start the hunt for dinner, this way you’re not eating too late. Pick up a hearty soup with a sandwich or throw some chicken with vegetables into the oven. It’s all about sticking to a schedule and keeping it. Also, if you’re like me, you have the WORST sweet tooth! I get my chocolate fix by making delicious and healthy chocolate chip cookies. The entire process takes about 20 minutes and they last me all week long (I even bring some to work to let my coworkers marvel at what a great baker I am!).
Now, if you’re eating out with friends, stick to the alcohol that isn’t too high in calories (think wine or vodka/soda). You can also share an appetizer and dessert with a friend helping to split the cost, spread the calories and keep you from over eating! It’s all about moderation. I know you probably don’t go out with your girls often and want to treat yourself but get it together and watch those sugary drinks!
Remember to keep hydrated, drinking lots of water helps flush out the toxins and keeps you full longer! When you get cold drink green tea, it’ll keep you warm and helps your metabolism flow. If all this fails, have mind blowing sex with lots of foreplay multiple times a week and that should suffice. The better the orgasm, the more calories you burn (which is a great excuse for staying in)! So get naked and start burning those calories!
